Crafting the Pulse of the AB Music Scene

Blondie Presents came to be April 2023. Music has always been my escape. Being unable to go to shows during the initial COVID lockdowns nearly killed me. The first quarter after lockdowns ended, I’d gone to 12 shows- in the second quarter, it was more than quadruple that amount.

Someone mentioned to me, because I shared so much about the music I liked and promoted the shows I was going to, that they thought I’d be good at doing my own shows. Awhile later, someone was looking for a door person at their show and I volunteered. They were so impressed with my work, they considered asking me to be their bands manager! This was a well established and respected band in our local scene and I didn’t take the compliment lightly. Next thing you know, my mom who had been chronically almost 3/4 of my life - who also shared a love and passion for music- was actually dying.

Given the extent of my losses in recent years, I knew I had to find something to pour my passion into as a way to work through it. My parents, brother and I had all connected through music throughout our time together - and so I planned a memorial show. It was well received. A few more people asked me to book shows for them. I asked some more people to play shows. I pretty quickly started trying to expand, hosting a couple of shows in different venues throughout Edmonton . Then I came into contact with Dive Bar. I hosted my first show there in August of 2023, and by September, they had approached me to be their event manager. I maintain Blondie Presents as an independent business, offering entry level tour management, booking support, and also work in conjunction with The Dive Bar. It's my absolute pleasure to provide space for the scene to thrive. See you at the show.
